Achievements so far

Reading School drew up a masterplan for the improvement of key facilities in 2007.  This identified the need for major improvements in dining facilities, as well as teaching facilities for science and sport.  We have already achieved significant improvements across many of these areas, including:

  • 2011-12: New Refectory completed, enabling us to provide hot meals for all at lunch and break time for the first time in over 10 years
  • 2013-14: Five Computer Science and Physics Laboratories refurbished, including the creation of two classrooms in the old wood workshop and independent study areas in the existing laboratories to facilitate the introduction of computer science and electronics to the curriculum
  • 2014-15: Lecture Theatre refurbished, with seating for 72 boys, providing a venue for teaching larger sets of pupils, as well as for visiting speakers

In addition, we have completed:

  • Improvements to East Wing and South House boarding houses, including a Medical Centre and updated study facilities
  • Major repairs to the roof of the Chapel, Big School and the Signals Loft (with the help of the Reading Foundation)
  • Installation of external lighting in several areas of the School site

Thank you to all of our supporters, including parents, alumni, the Reading School Parents' Association, the Reading Foundation and the Old Redingensians Association for their help in enabling us to make so much progress in a relatively short period of time.
