Co-Curricular Activities

Personal Development though our Co-curricular activity program:

The Co-curricular program  is designed to enable our pupils to extend their aspirations, skills and range of interests beyond the classroom, and to help them to develop socially and emotionally so that they can grow in maturity and self-confidence.

Our co-curricular program complement the learning that students take part in daily and gives students an opportunity to extend their interests, to collaborate with other students and to contribute to the broader life of the school in a range of areas. Sitting alongside our program of Elective activities it allows all pupils the opportunity to develop their self-confidence, organisation and leadership skills as well as providing a chance to build relationships with a range of students.

We generally offer around 50 additional activities during and after school. Generally Musical and Drama activities and rehearsals take place during lunchtimes or after school whilst a wide range of additional sporting activities and teams run after school. There are other activities run by both staff and students and the list of these activities is published in the first week of each term.

There are some additional activities such as CCF, DofE and LAMDA that may include an additional cost; these opportunities are communicated directly to parents.

Unfortunately, our core funding from the Department for Education does not cover the cost of running co-curricular activities. Staff volunteer their time spent in running the activities, so the expenses involved are purely the direct costs of running each club. We try to keep these to a minimum. However, we usually have to pay for materials and equipment, hire costs for some sports activities, as well as travel and refreshments for away games and trips to outside venues.

You can support co-curricular activities via our online donation page. Your gift will directly benefit the boys participating in activities this year.
