Required for September 2018
TEACHER OF ECONOMICS
The Governors of Reading School wish to appoint a well-qualified graduate of Economics to join a flourishing Economics Department and complement the expertise, enthusiasm and commitment of our team.
Economics is one of our most popular GCSE and A-Level choices and is highly valued by the whole school community. The reputation of the department is second to none; for example in September 2017, over 90% of Economics students at Reading School gained A*-B grades at A Level and 85% gained A*-A grades at GCSE. A very high proportion of these students go on to selective universities to study an economics related undergraduate degree programme.
This role would suit an individual who is a reflective and collaborative practitioner, who has a comprehensive grasp of the conceptual frameworks of the subject and who can share their enthusiasm and expertise with intellectually curious students. We would welcome applicants with a range of backgrounds and experiences, with teaching experience being less significant than an up-to-date understanding of economic theory and its applications, combined with the willingness and ability to apply this knowledge within the confines of the rigorous A Level and GCSE specifications.
Reading School is a most successful 11-18 selective boys’ school with a reputation for high standards of behaviour and achievement. Our mission is to develop academic excellence and to build good men, and we consider values of excellence, integrity, leadership and community to be integral to our success and to our future.
Reading School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to a DBS check. For further details of the job specification and an application form, please contact Headmaster’s PA, Caroline Mole on 0118 9015600 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
The Closing Date for application is Thursday 22nd March 2018.
Interviews will take place on Wednesday 28th March 2018.
