Health & Life Sciences at Reading School

Reading School in collaboration with University of Reading and Royal Berkshire Hospital

On Tuesday 10 July, 30 Reading School Year 10 students were privileged to have the opportunity to discuss career pathways in Health and Life Sciences with a range of local professionals.  In collaboration with the University of Reading and the Royal Berkshire Hospital, the 'Careers Speed Networking’ session connected ambitious 15 year olds with a range of professions, from Biological Sciences Researchers to Operating Theatre Nurses and Radiotherapists.  This was a valuable opportunity for pupils to speak to inspirational leaders and gain insights in their respective career path, discuss the challenges and hurdles they have had to overcome on their career journey.   In the awe-inspiring setting of Reading School Chapel, the small group discussions left the boys better informed and buzzing with excitement about the opportunities beyond school and pathways.

We are truly indebted to the time given up by the numerous healthcare volunteers organised by Abigail Changer, at the University of Reading as well as the tireless commitment of Mrs C Desai (Careers Adviser), who is determined to expose our pupils to the breadth of opportunities available to them.  If you think that you or your organisation could support us in this endeavour, please contact Mrs C Desai at
