Reading School’s Headmaster, Mr Robson to play in football match marking 150th anniversary of Reading FC

Headmaster, Mr Robson wears the bespoke shirt for the 1872 rematch set to be worn by Reading School’s first senior team when they take on Reading FC Academy XI on Wednesday 23rd February 2022 on the school field.

Mr Robson is delighted with the retro-inspired classic kit based on Reading School Association Football kit in the Late Victorian period and cannot wait to see them worn on the pitch.

He commented,

“It is amazing to be able to reveal the new football kits today. It's very exciting to be involved in such a momentous event and to be able to provide the opportunity for students to enjoy being able to play sport after so much time spent in lockdown.”

The shirt features the original date, 16 October 1872, the date of the first ever match between the two clubs as well as the Macron logo of the official provider.

The student lineup includes Pranav G (10L), Fabian RW (13E), Will M (13C), Isaac J (13C), Charlie D (13E), Aadam A (13C), Luke S (12S), Yusef AA (12E), Jamie G (12C), Andrew S (12C), Killian F (12W), James A (12C) & Haris Mahmood (12C).

Mr Allen (Head of PE) and Captain, William M (13FEH) will be responsible for leading the team to victory as they take on Reading FC Academy XI.

Mr J Sanchez (East House Boarding Master) & Mr A Robertson (Teacher of PE) are also rumoured to make an appearance on the pitch.
