Empowering Future Explorers: A Recap of Our Geotechnical Site Investigations Event

On the 7th of March, we had the pleasure of welcoming back Simon Mote (OR 2013-2015) to engage with our Geography students, alongside students from The Abbey and Kendrick School. Simon's insightful presentation shed light on the intricate world of Geotechnical Site Investigations for Offshore Windfarms, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended.

The event served as a transformative experience for our students, providing them with a deep dive into geotechnical site investigations, environmental surveys, and geophysical works. Simon's presentation was not only informative but also captivating, offering a firsthand look into life aboard geotech vessels in the North Sea through compelling personal anecdotes.

Through Simon's detailed explanation of project development processes, environmental survey techniques, and future industry trends, our students gained invaluable insights that inspired them to explore career paths in geography and engineering. His words sparked curiosity and ignited a passion for exploration and discovery among our students, opening doors to exciting possibilities for their future endeavors.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Simon for generously giving back to the school and contributing to the success of our current students. His willingness to share experiences and wisdom serves as a beacon of inspiration, guiding our students as they embark on their own journeys of discovery and achievement.

If you would like to share your professional expertise with our students through a short talk, workshop, tutorial or inspire lecture, please contact Jas Chhokar or Esther Chong at alumni@reading-school.co.uk.
