Exploring the World of Distributed Systems

Delving into the realm of Distributed Systems, we were delighted to welcome Rushil Ambati (OR 2014-2021) back to our school. As a former Head Computer Science Prefect and current third-year Computing student at Imperial College London, along with his role as a Software Engineer at an HFT firm, Rushil brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with our students.

Throughout the session, our students were immersed in a detailed exploration of various concepts, including horizontal and vertical scaling, failure modes in distributed systems, load balancing strategies, network partitions, consensus algorithms, replication, fragmentation, and more. Rushil's expertise provided our students with a deep understanding of the intricate workings of distributed computing, shedding light on the complex infrastructure and sophisticated algorithms that power the technology we rely on daily.

Moreover, Rushil's insights into advanced concepts broadened our students' perspectives and fostered a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of modern computing systems. We are confident that the knowledge gleaned from this session will inspire our students to embark on further studies and delve deeper into the field of computer science.

Reflecting on the event, Rushil shared:

I hope all the students who attended left learning something new, and I was particularly impressed by some of the juniors' questions! A huge thanks to you all and Srisht C (12BSA) for organising the lecture.

We extend our sincere thanks to the guest speaker for their valuable contribution to our students' education and for sharing their expertise with us. Their dedication to enlightening and empowering the next generation of computer scientists is truly commendable, and we are grateful for the impact they have made on our school community.
