    Reading School Prevent Strategy 

    Using the Prevent Self-Assessment tool, Reading School has four priorities for the Prevent Duty

    1. Assess is the risk to our students 

    Develop and understand risk assessment for Prevent, including contexutal safegarding risks (inc. online) and confidence levels of staff & governors  

    1. Site safety  

    Develop, inform and practice lockdown procedures  

    1. Understand student exposure to Prevent issues in the curriculum  

    Curriculum review of Prevent issues, focussing on History, PSHE, English, Drama, Art to allow understanding of student's exposure to issues  

    1. Understand student exposure to Prevent issues in extra-curriculum  

    Development of extra-curriculum map for PDP to encompass all additional opportunities for encounters with Prevent issues eg. PSHE, tutor-time curriculum, and look at these through two separate lenses: one whole academic year, and a Y7-13 journey 

    1. Online safety review using online safety audit 

    DSL to complete new training on Home Office website: Prevent awareness, Prevent referrals, Channel awareness
