Boarding

At Reading School, we often talk about boarding being a family. Family means that we care deeply about the well-being and pastoral support that every boarder receives. We strive to make boarding feel welcoming, to encourage the boys to build life-long bonds as brothers and to integrate the wider family of each of our boarders into what we do: inviting them to barbecues, communicating
with them regularly and sharing the partnership of developing these young boys into outstanding people by the time they leave us.

“Children thrive in boarding because of the warm and caring
relationships that they have with staff. Staff know each child extremely well. Parents praise the support, commitment and dedication of the boarding staff. They are pleased with the level of care that their children receive and how much progress their children make.”
"Children are thoughtful of their peers and staff. They are respectful of each other, and from early in their boarding experience, learn how to live alongside each other in a shared community. Boundaries and expectations are clear but not rigid, allowing space for individual personalities to shine."
