The earliest account of Sports Day in our archive is from 1880, when it was called 'The Athletic Sports'. The writer treats it as an established annual fixture, so it was almost certainly running well before that.
One hundred and forty-six years later, the essentials are unchanged: Houses, a track, and an afternoon that settles bragging rights until next June.
Sports Day 2026 went to School House.
Outgoing Head of School House, Mr C Betteridge, said: "The energy in the stands, the leadership of the prefects and the effort from every single boy carried the house to the top. It was their win, earned together. Well done, School House."
